Pro Jym is a protein supplement that utilizes four different sources of protein, which the company advertises as a positive thing…in reality, this is not positive…but why?

It’s a common misconception (thanks to deceptive marketing) that multiple sources of protein is better than one single protein source, but the truth is, the fewer protein sources, the better…in fact, you ideally want your protein powder to utilize only 1 source of protein: whey protein hydrolysate.

Unfortunately, you won’t find any whey protein hydrolysate in Pro Jym, which is one of the reasons it failed to rank on my list of the Top 10 Best Protein Powders of 2019.

What Is Pro Jym?

Pro Jym is a powder supplement meant for delivering easily digest protein to the athlete looking to fuel his or her muscles after an intense workout. Pro Jym is by Jym Supplement science, and they claim that their blend of three different protein sources is actually better than 100% whey protein isolate, which just happens to be one of our favorites. Not off to a very good start Pro Jym!

How Does Pro Jym Work?

Pro Jym works by delivering protein to your body that is derived from easily digestible and high-quality sources. What makes a protein good for you is a low-fat content, low caloric content, and easy digestibility.

The reason why athletes prefer powders and drinks to actual meals is because it requires a lot more work from our body to break down that protein, and our muscles need nutrients much faster than what the body can provide with just a chicken breast.

Pro Jym Ingredients 

Protein Blend: Pro Jym uses a blend of whey, casein and egg proteins that they claim to be better than 100% whey protein alone. They go as far as to claim that brands that promise a 100% whey protein are actually short changing you. This is false for a few reasons.

First of all, whey protein isolate is one of the highest quality proteins on the market right now. Having a 100% of whey protein isolate ensures that your body is getting an easily digested, healthy, high quality protein to fuel your muscles, decrease your recovery time, and help you push yourself to the limit. The only reason to “water down” your blend with other protein sources is to decrease your cost.

At the end of the day, you should always be looking for the protein powders with the highest quality protein, from the lowest amount of sources.

BCAA: Branched chain amino acids, also known as BCAAs, are among some of the most important ingredients to decreasing recovery time and optimizing muscle growth. Many proteins naturally include BCAA, but not in significant quantities. In order to counteract this, many companies have started to include ADDITIONAL BCAA in their protein blends, usually around 5 grams.

These additional BCAAs can be a very big benefit to your workout and can help you achieve the body you are looking for in far less time. If you are currently stuck with a protein powder that does not have a naturally high BCAA count, we would highly recommend you supplement BCAA separately but concurrently with your protein drink.

Pro Jym has extremely average nutritional facts in comparison with the rest of the protein supplements we have reviewed. They are not bad by any means, but they also do not blow me away. Even though there are other protein blends with higher sodium levels, 220mg is still a little bit much after seeing so many other brands.

Pro Jym Reviews From REAL Users

We already have enough information to conclude that we do not recommend Pro Jym because of the fact that it uses 4 different protein sources instead of one, and none of those sources are whey protein hydrolysate…BUT, we still like to take user reviews into account.

On Amazon, you can find 531 Pro Jym reviews. The average rating it received was 4.3 stars out of 5, which is very impressive. It’s clear that people love this stuff, which is the case with most Jym Supplement Science products…

In fact, 69% of people rated it 5 stars, which is another super impressive statistic…but does that mean you should buy it?

Look, we’re not saying Pro Jym is a bad product…it’s a solid protein powder. But, the fact is, the blend is very impure compared to other protein powders. The ideal protein blend is ultra pure and consists of only whey protein hydrolysate, or the slightly inferior, whey protein isolate…

Pro Jym does contain whey protein isolate, but the blend does not include whey protein hydrolysate. At the end of the day, even though the Pro Jym reviews are mostly positive, we simply can’t recommend a supplement with such an impure protein blend.

The bottom line is that Pro Jym is just another average protein supplement that does not really stand out among its competitors. We appreciate their honesty and transparency in regards to the blend, but we would definitely like to see them clean up the blend and come out with a “new and improved” version in the future.
