C4 Sport Review

C4 Sport is a pre-workout supplement that utilizes a blend of blood pumping and endurance-boosting ingredients to help you perform like a true athlete. The original Cellucor pre-workout product was simply called C4, but they created C4 Sport as a new and improved version of the original C4 pre-workout. Read this C4 Sport review to learn why we don’t consider it to be one of the Top 10 Best Pre Workout Supplements of 2018.

Benefits of C4 Sport

Here’s a list of some of the most commonly reported benefits of using C4 Sport:

  • Increased endurance
  • Boost in focus
  • Higher energy levels
  • Better pump
  • Improved strength

What Is C4 Sport?

C4 Sport was released as an improved version of the original C4 pre-workout that is specifically designed for athletes. However, in our opinion, not much was improved here. The original C4 was a super average supplement, and honestly, so is C4 Sport.

At least with the original C4, the ingredient dosages were disclosed and the formula was transparent. With C4 Sport, most of the dosage amounts are hidden through their use of proprietary blends. Companies use proprietary blends to protect their formula so that the dosages can’t be copied, but the problem is, now the consumer doesn’t know exactly what he/she is buying since the dosages are left undisclosed.

Additionally, the overall potency of each of the proprietary blends in C4 Sport is simply not that large, which means the dosages of each ingredient within the blend can’t be very large either. With that being said, we do like the fact that C4 Sport uses Creatine Monohydrate as opposed to Creatine Nitrate, which is what the rest of the C4 pre-workout supplements use. We find monohydrate to be a much more efficient source of creatine.

C4 Sport comes in the following flavors: Blue Razz, Watermelon, and Fruit Punch.

How Does C4 Sport Work?

C4 Sport works by utilizing two different proprietary blends. The first blend is known as the C4 Sport Performance Blend, while the other one is known as the C4 Sport Energy Blend. Each of these blends provide you with their own unique benefits that can help improve your output in the gym. These two blends work together to ensure you have better endurance, focus, and energy levels in the gym.

Moreover, certain ingredients in these blends have extremely important benefits when it comes to putting your muscles in a position to actually grow. The main reason people use pre workout is to improve their performance in the gym, but another very significant reason to use it is to feed your muscles growth-inducing nutrients. A super high quality pre workout allows you to enhance both your body’s external performance and internal performance.

C4 Sport Ingredients

The following ingredients are all present in C4 Sport: Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Micronized Creatine Monohydrate, CarnoSyn Beta-Alanine, Arginine alpha-Ketoglutarate, Sodium citrate, Magnesium Chloride, Dipotassium Phosphate, Taurine, Caffeine Anhydrous, Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate, and Methylcobalamin.

C4 Sport Performance Blend

Micronized Creatine Monohydrate: An easy to digest form of creatine. Creatine is responsible for giving you more energy and boosting your strength. It is great to use when you are looking to put on mass. It works primarily through increasing water retention in the muscles, which allows higher amounts of crucial nutrients to reside in your muscle tissue.

CarnoSyn Beta-Alanine: This is an endurance-boosting ingredient that can help you make sure you aren’t quitting your workout early. It can help reduce the burning feelings of lactic acid buildup that can stop your workout short. (study)

Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate: This amino acid is the precursor to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a compound responsible for increasing your blood flow and circulation, which makes it an extremely important aspect of pre-workout powder. Your blood is what contains all the nutrients that produce power, strength, proper recovery, and growth, which means better blood flow equals better results.

C4 Sport Energy Blend

Taurine: Taurine is an amino acid that can help increase your energy levels and act as an anti-inflammatory. Most pre-workout formulas include Taurine in combination with caffeine so that the two can work together to maximize your energy levels.

Caffeine Anhydrous: Caffeine is the active ingredient in coffee and a powerful stimulant that can help kick-start your workout and improve your focus. Some people are very sensitive to caffeine and should keep that in mind when picking a pre-workout supplement.

Stacking Pre Workout With Protein Powder

The two most basic, essential supplements for your stack if you’re serious about getting fit and making progress are pre-workout and protein powder. The two go hand in hand, and it doesn’t really make sense to use one without the other. Here’s why…

The main reason we use pre-workout is to enhance our performance, which ultimately serves to maximize muscle breakdown while we’re at the gym. The goal at the gym is to break down your muscles as much as possible…you really want to tear those muscle fibers up.

Then, after your workout is complete, you need to allow the muscle fibers to rebuild, and the whole point of working out is to get them to rebuild bigger than they were before, right? Well, if you want that to happen, you need to provide your muscles with the proper nutrients after you’ve broken them down.

That’s the whole point of protein powder. It contains exactly what your muscles need to quickly and effectively build themselves back up and grow. You get a quick 25 grams of protein, and plenty of branched chain amino acids with every scoop of protein powder.

The key is to make sure you’re taking a high-quality protein powder in order to optimize nutrient delivery, speed up the growth process, and avoid fat gain.

The Pros

  • Includes creatine monohydrate instead of creatine nitrate
  • Has nitric oxide boosters
  • Contains the all-important Beta Alanine

The Cons

  • Uses proprietary blends
  • Caffeine dosage is very small compared to other pre-workout supps
  • Does not contain nootropics (focus boosters)
  • Lacks branched chain amino acids

C4 Sport Conclusion

C4 Sport might be a little better than the original C4 pre-workout, but we still just don’t see it as a top-tier supplement. The top highlight here is that they switched from creatine nitrate to creatine monohydrate with C4 Sport. However, it’s still missing BCAAs and nootropics, and it contains proprietary blends. While we don’t recommend this pre-workout, here’s a list of 10 pre-workout powders that we DO recommend: Top 10 Best Pre Workout Supplements of 2018.
