Grown American Superfood review: Is Grown American Superfood any good?
As a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC), I can tell you right off the bat that Grown American Superfood is not a product I would ever recommend to any of my clients. The selection of superfoods is impressive, but the total amount of nutrients per serving is only 8,000 milligrams, which is about 50% less superfoods per serving than my top ranked greens supplement, which is the TOTAL LIVING DRINK.
That superfood powder is quite literally twice as potent as Grown American Superfood, which really puts into perspective exactly how weak this product is and exactly how powerful the Total Living Drink is. Personally I take the Total Living Drink every day, and I have never looked back ever since I started using it. It’s just so much better than any other green powder I have tried.
The bottom line is superfood supplements can produce an amazing array of health benefits including immune health, digestive health, gut health, brain health, and more, but you really need for the dosages to be large enough in order to reap those benefits, and that is NOT the case with Grown American Superfood.

My Personal Experience Taking Grown American Superfood
As a Nutrition Coach, it’s my duty to go above and beyond for my clients. I always conduct a through analysis of the supplement facts panel when reviewing any dietary supplement, but I realize that kind of thing is boring to most people. So, to further my knowledge on the product, I test it for myself. This allows me to give my clients a more personal answer when they ask me whether or not a product is any good. In the case of Grown American Superfood, I bought a 30 day supply to test out, and here’s what happened…
I’ll start off by saying this: it says “delicious instant superfoods” on the front of the bag as you can see in the photo I took…this green drink is anything but delicious despite the fact that it contains added natural apple flavor and added sugar. The Grown American Superfood powder tastes absolutely awful. But not to worry…I have a solution for that. Instead of mixing it with water, I mix it in with orange juice (apple juice is another good option) because orange juice does an excellent job of masking the greens taste.
Anyways, once I got past the poor taste of the product, I was focused on how it made me feel. Does it actually work, and if so, what are the health benefits? One of the health benefits I noticed right off the bat was a nice energy boost. My energy levels increased slightly, as if I had just drank a cup of coffee. With that being said, that is the only benefit the Grown American Superfood powder actually produced for me…that’s literally the only benefit I noticed, and I took it for almost the full 30 days. If all I wanted was more energy, I’d just drink coffee.
Bottom Line: Due to my lack of results, negative personal experience with the supplement, and my analysis of the nutrition facts, I do NOT recommend Grown American Superfood. It made my stomach upset, tasted horrible, and produced virtually no health benefits for me.
What does Grown American Superfood do?
What does Grown American Superfood do for you? Grown American Superfood provides your body with 8 grams worth of powdered certified organic whole fruits and vegetables in order to produce benefits such as improved digestive health, immune health, gut health, heart health, and energy levels. It also serves to replace the need for leafy greens, fruits, and veggies in your diet.
Now, it’s important to keep in mind that these are the claimed benefits…the key word is “claimed.” Sure, you could experience some of these benefits, but the potential is nowhere near that of a truly top notch green powder like one of our top ranked options. As a Nutrition Coach, if one of my clients asked me, “what can Grown American Superfood do for you?” I would probably answer with one word: nothing.
That’s just my personal take on it. It simply isn’t potent enough to have the potential of producing seriously noticeable benefits. As a general rule of thumb when it comes to a nutrition supplement, I never recommend a supplement to any of my clients or readers that I wouldn’t personally take myself…this is a product that I have actually taken myself, and I would never take it again. It was a waste of money for me.

Organic Concentrated Green Powder
Grown American Superfood contains a total of 5 certified organic concentrated greens, which are Kale, Spinach, Wheat Grass, Barley Grass, and Alfalfa Grass. This is a solid selection of greens, although I’d like to see it be a little bit broader. Also, they don’t disclose the dosage size of this blend. I like the selection of the nutrients in this concentrated green powder blend, but I simply need to know the dosage to further analyze it.
Organic Vegetables
There are a total of 6 certified organic vegetables, which include Broccoli, Celery, Brussel Sprouts, Carrot, Green Bell Pepper, and Pumpkin. This is a pretty decent and diverse organic vegetable profile, and it has a lot of natural phytonutrients as a result…but they again did not disclose the total dosage of this blend, so we can’t be sure it’s potent enough.
Organic Sprouts
It contains a total of 12 certified organic sprouts including Amaranth Sprout, Quinoa Sprout, Buckwheat Sprout, Millet Sprout, Garbanzo Bean Sprout, Lentil, Adzuki Sprout, Flax Sprout, Sunflower Sprout, Pumpkin, Chia Sprout, and Sesame Sprout. In my opinion, this is their most impressive and comprehensive blend due to the high concentration of natural phytonutrients it contains. The only problem is the dosage amount is left undisclosed again.
Organic Superfruits
The formula includes 8 certified organic superfoods, which are Cherry, Blueberry, Strawberry, Apple, Cranberry, Orange, Lemon, and Pear. Can you guess what I’m going to say next? Again, great selection of superfoods with regard to the fruits and vegetables they included, but we don’t know how potent the blend is. Some more transparency here would really go a long way, but then again, we already known that the formula as a whole lacks potency, so I suppose we don’t need any more information. Whole fruits and vegetables are obviously good ingredients in a superfood powder, but if we don’t know the dosages, then what’s the point?
Grown American Superfood dosage: How much Grown American Superfood should you take & when?
The directions say that you can take anywhere between 1-3 servings per day, but they do not specify when to take your serving(s). Due to the fact that the overall potency of one serving is so low at only 8,000 MG, I would recommend taking two servings daily. Then again, I don’t recommend this product at all.
If you choose to get a top tier concentrated green powder, you should only need to take one dosage per day. It’s my personal opinion that the dosage is best taken in the morning because then you are able to experience the benefits throughout the rest of your day. I personally take one serving of my greens powder every morning mixed in with orange juice or apple juice, and it tastes great.
What I would recommend (in addition to avoiding this product all together) is that you take one serving of your superfood supplement every morning, and mix the scoop of greens in with your favorite juice. Better yet, if you’re worried about the taste being bad, make a little smoothie. It’s very simple to throw some fruit, juice, and a scoop of greens into a blender and whip up a nice morning treat…once you get good at it, you can’t even taste the greens!
Grown American Superfood pros and cons
Here are the benefits and side effects of Grown American Superfood.
Grown American Superfood Benefits
The benefits of supplementing with a certified organic superfood powder at the potency level of Grown American Superfood may include elevated energy levels, improved digestion, and enhanced brain function. Organic fruits and vegetables (especially ones that are sourced from American organic farms) have a lot of benefits to offer, but we would love to see the dosages be significantly larger here. You really can only reap the benefits if the dosages are large enough.
If you are deficient in certain vitamins or minerals, organic fruits and vegetables as well as superfoods may be able to help with that too as many of them are naturally very rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. But again, it’s important to keep in mind that it doesn’t matter how high quality an ingredient is if it is being under dosed. You need a sufficient dosage in order to actually experience the benefits of whole fruits and vegetables. You don’t get benefits if you aren’t consuming enough nutrients…plain and simple.
A truly elite superfood powder would have about twice the amount of superfoods per serving. For example, our #1 ranked Total Living Drink is a superfood powder that provides 15,000 milligrams in every scoop…now that is potent. That makes it literally twice as potent as this supplement, which generally means you can expect the benefits to be twice as powerful.
Grown American Superfood Side Effects
Since the formula just consists of 100% natural, organic, gluten free, dairy free, and soy free whole fruits and vegetables, it’s highly unlikely for most people to experience side effects. There simply isn’t anything in the formula that would be cause for concern. With that said, sometimes green powders can cause some mild stomach cramps at first. If you are experiencing stomach cramps or any sort of side effect that bothers you, you should stop taking the supplement and consult your doctor.
In fact, it’s always a good rule of thumb to consult your doctor or primary care physician before starting any new supplement just to make sure it is a good fit for you and won’t cause any problems for you. I’m just a Nutrition Coach, not a doctor. I’m very good at evaluating supplements and specifically concentrated green powder supplements, but I certainly have no place telling you what you should and should not take.
Other Grown American Superfood Cons
There are two major problems I have with this product, and they are glaringly obvious just from taking one look at the Supplement Facts Panel (SFP). The first issue is that the SFP shows a total of only 8,000 milligrams per serving, which is 50% less than our top ranked greens supplement.
The second major issue is that none of the blends have specific dosage amounts assigned to them, meaning that we don’t know how potent any of these blends are. All we know is that when added up, their total potency equates to 8,000 MG, which again is simply far too low.
The value is another major con to consider. For only $15-20 more, you can get a green powder that provides twice as many nutrients. That is 100% worth the extra cash. Think about it…you would have to buy two bags and therefore pay twice the price of this supplement to get the amount of nutrients you can get with a superior one. You certainly get what you pay for in the superfood drinks industry.
Another con is that I don’t see anything in the way of a money back guarantee. Usually there is a 30 day money back guarantee with superfood drinks and nutrition supplements in general, and maybe I’m just missing it, but I don’t see it on the website.
Grown American Superfood complaints & praise (info from real Grown American Superfood customer reviews)
The SFP tells us all we need to know in order to make a decision on this supplement, or any supplement for that matter. However, we always like to take customer experiences into account just to get a sense of the type of results people are getting.
We checked Amazon to examine some of their verified customer reviews and found some relatively impressive data. Across about 1,000 total Grown American Superfood reviews, it achieved an average rating of 4.2 stars out of 5. That’s a pretty impressive score, but there were certainly some negative reviews too.
Roughly 25% of the customer reviews posted ratings of only 1-3 stars. Overall, the reviews are still mostly positive. With that said, I do want to point out that I read several testimonials which contained complaints about the customer service being bad. Some people complained that they weren’t even able to get a human on the phone when they contacted customer service…yikes.
Is Grown American Superfood good or bad? Our conclusion
All things considered, Grown American Superfood is just average. It’s really nothing more than your run of the mill greens supplement. I can’t look past the fact that the formula lacks potency, and key dosages are left undisclosed. It’s also difficult to justify recommending a green powder that is literally half as potent as the one I take myself…that feels wrong.
For those reasons, I do NOT recommend Grown American Superfood. However, you can find a few greens supplements we strongly recommend on our top 10 page! There are some truly amazing options out there. Don’t let the fact that this supplement is inferior get to you. When you find the right superfood supplement, it can truly be a life changer…I know it certainly was for me. I’ve never felt better in my life after finding my go-to green drink!
