The Best CBD Oil Supplements of 2020 – Reviews, Results, and More
Perhaps the single most popular supplement in 2020 is CBD…but why? Well, it seems the world has discovered a natural extract that can provide relief for three of our biggest problems: anxiety, pain, and sleep issues.
CBD oil truly is a miracle supplement, but NOT ALL CBD IS CREATED EQUAL! That’s right…there are different types, qualities, potencies, terpene profiles, extraction methods, farming practices…the list goes on forever!
Lucky for you, I’m a CBD oil aficionado, and I’ve done all of the research for you already. Plus, I’ve personally tested every one of the below CBD oils myself. With all of the research and testing already done for you, the only thing left to do is give you my conclusions and rankings…
#1 Transcend Labs CBD Oil
Transcend Labs undoubtedly has the highest quality and most potent CBD oil on the market. To be honest, it’s not even close. Their CBD oil is 32% more potent than the industry average. The standard dosage for CBD oil is 25 milligrams per serving, and that’s a solid serving size, but Transcend Labs’ 33 MG per serving dosage makes a HUGE difference.
Another important highlight is the fact that they sell strictly Full Spectrum CBD oil, which means it contains the “full spectrum” of cannabinoids. Most CBD oils are pure CBD, which is inferior to Full Spectrum CBD because you don’t get the benefits of the other cannabinoids.
As Transcend Labs says, only the full spectrum of cannabinoids can produce the full spectrum of benefits. In case you don’t already have enough reasons to see why they have the best CBD oil, it’s also 100% organic, non-GMO, vegan, and the potency levels are verified by a third party laboratory.
Transcend Labs Key Features:
- 33 MG of CBD per serving
- 32% more potent than the industry average
- Strictly Full Spectrum CBD
- Organic, vegan, non-GMO, and made in the US
- Third party lab verified potency levels
- Great value – only $64.99 for 1,000 MG, or $2.16 per serving
#2 CBDfx CBD Oil
While there’s a pretty significant gap between Transcend Labs and every other brand I’ve tried, CBDfx makes an excellent CBD oil that certainly earned it’s spot on this list. In fact, their CBD oil is almost as potent at about 30 milligrams per serving, but it’s significantly more expensive. If it wasn’t so pricey, I’d probably give it a slightly higher rating.
One of the most important things to take into account when evaluating a CBD company is whether they provide third party lab tests or not because these tests (also known as COAs or certificates of analysis) are the only way to know for sure how potent the product is.
CBDfx has their CBD oil third party tested which is great, plus it’s much more potent than the industry average, and it is Full Spectrum as well. There’s not much to complain about here, except for the price.
CBDfx Key Features:
- Highly potent
- Uses strictly Full Spectrum CBD
- Potency levels are third party lab verified
- Made in the US
- Organic, vegan, and non-GMO

#3 Joy Organics CBD Oil
Joy Organics has created one of the most potent CBD oils on the market with over 30 milligrams of CBD in every serving. Their CBD oil is super high quality, potent, and the cannabinoid levels are verified by third party laboratories…so what’s the problem?
My only reservation about Joy Organics CBD oil is that it is broad spectrum, not full spectrum. As I said earlier, I believe full spectrum is far superior to any other form of CBD. It’s really as simple as the fact that the full spectrum of cannabinoids produces the most benefits.
This is an excellent CBD oil without a doubt…I just wish it were full spectrum.
Joy Organics Key Features:
- Over 30 MG of CBD per serving
- Super high quality extraction process
- Lab verified potency levels
- 100% natural and organic

#4 NuLeaf Naturals CBD Oil Review
NuLeaf Naturals makes super high quality CBD oil, there’s no question about that. They have earned their reputation in this space, and their CBD oil does not disappoint…it’s full spectrum and third party lab tested, but it doesn’t quite match the elite potency levels of the CBD oils above.
With their standard 30-serving CBD oil, you only get 24 MG per serving, which is about 10 MG less than you get with our #1 ranked best CBD oil. Additionally, the 30-serving bottle costs $99.99, which is $30 more than you would pay for our top ranked CBD oil.
These factors caused it to rank towards the bottom of this list, but one of my favorite things about NuLeaf Naturals is that you can buy CBD in bulk for pretty cheap from them. If you’re looking to buy a ton of CBD oil in bulk, it’s worth checking them out.
NuLeaf Naturals Key Features:
- Strictly full spectrum CBD oil
- Third party lab tested
- Very high quality, effective oil
- Great place to buy in bulk from

#5 Nanocraft CBD Oil Review
Nanocraft makes one of the best CBD oil products out there without a doubt. Nanocraft is a great company with awesome CBD supplements and a very cool philanthropic vision, but their CBD oil has the same two problems I find with most CBD oils: it’s not full spectrum, and it only provides 25 MG per serving.
Don’t get me wrong, I love their CBD oil, and it’s vastly better than the majority of other CBD oils on the market…I just can’t get on board with only 25 MG per serving of broad spectrum CBD. I’d much prefer 33 MG per serving of full spectrum CBD as is the case with my #1 ranked CBD oil.
Nanocraft Key Features:
- 25 MG of CBD per serving
- Super high quality source of CBD
- Lab-verified potency levels
- Awesome philanthropic mission

Important Features To Consider
Unlike most other review sites, we don’t just expect you to take our word for it on which CBD oil is best. As I touched on before, there are a LOT of things to take into consideration before deciding which CBD oil is right for you, and this section is designed to teach you what our analysis is based on and help you decide for yourself which is the best CBD oil for you.
Here are some of the most important features to consider when evaluating CBD oil…
- Verified Potency. This is an absolute requirement. CBD companies, and supplement companies in general, have proven over the years that most of them can’t be trusted. For this reason, don’t take their word for it on potency levels. Only buy from CBD companies that have third party lab verified potency levels.
- Ingredients. What type of CBD is being used? Is it CBD isolate (pure CBD), broad spectrum, or full spectrum? Full spectrum is best because the combination of all the active cannabinoids produces what’s known as the “entourage effect.” More on that later…
- Value. It’s extremely important to break down the value and determine exactly how much CBD you’re getting per serving and how much money you’re paying for it. For example, with Transcend Labs, you get: 30 servings, 1,000 MG for $64.99. That breaks down to 33 MG for only $2.16 per serving…excellent value.
- Company Reputation. Who makes the oil? Where does it come from? Does the company have a social media presence? For example, Transcend Labs is based in the USA, their CBD products are made in the USA, they have a major presence on social media, and their “about us” page tells you everything you need to know about the company’s background.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBD?
CBD is short for Cannabidiol, which is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant. It’s important to understand that CBD comes from hemp, not cannabis. Many people wrongly associate CBD with cannabis, but they are entirely different substances. CBD is natural, organic, safe, and federally legal in the US.
Does CBD Oil Get You High?
No, CBD oil does NOT get you high. This is another common misconception that exists because of the fact that CBD comes from hemp. The reason cannabis gets you high is because it contains high levels of THC (or tetrahydrocannabinol), which is a psychoactive substance that produces the “high” effect people feel. CBD must legally contain less than .3% THC, which means it can not get you high.
Is CBD a Drug?
No, CBD is not a drug. It is a natural plant extract that is sold online and in stores such as GNC, Walgreens, and CVS. It is federally legal in the US and does NOT require a prescription.
What is CBD Oil Good For?
The three most common reason people use CBD are anxiety relief, pain relief, and for help falling asleep. Out of all the purposes CBD can serve, anxiety relief is the most common. Here’s a study showing the potential of CBD for anxiety relief. For good measure, here’s a study that examines the potential of CBD for pain relief.
Is CBD Oil Safe?
Everyone should consult their primary care physician before trying CBD oil in order to make sure it’s right for them. It’s possible that it may not be a good fit for some people, and obviously allergies can be a concern, but generally, yes it’s safe.
Is CBD Oil Legal?
The answer to this question depends on what country you live in, but if you live in the United States, then yes CBD oil is federally legal. The Farm Bill, which was passed in 2019, made CBD legal on a federal level as long as it contains less than .3% THC.
How Does CBD Oil Work?
Your body naturally has what’s called the Endocannabinoid System already built into it, almost as if our bodies were designed to reap the benefits of cannabinoid use. Many people believe that the cannabinoids which CBD oil contains directly produce the benefits, but CBD actually works by naturally causing your body to produce more of its own cannabinoids.
How Should I Store My CBD?
CBD needs to be stored in a cool, dry place. It’s important not to leave it in the sun or under bright light for too long. Most manufacturers will tell you that if you expose it to light for a long period of time, it may begin to lose its potency.
My Experience With CBD Oil
As a certified Nutrition & Wellness Consultant, I can tell whether or not any particular CBD oil is worth my time and money just by evaluating the label. However, I still like to personally test many of the supplements I review because it allows me to more accurately review it…plus, I have a lot to gain from using CBD oil.
I’ve always suffered from terrible anxiety and restlessness, so for me, CBD oil has been absolutely life changing. I’ve been on prescription meds for sleep and anxiety for as long as I can remember. I have had great success replacing meds with CBD, which is amazing.
I would WAY rather take a natural, organic supplement like CBD for anxiety relief than put prescription medication into my body, which in my opinion is poison. CBD is also non habit forming, so I don’t feel dependent on it at all.
A standard day for me includes eating a couple of CBD gummies throughout the day to help tame my anxiety, and then I take a dosage of CBD oil at night to help me fall asleep since oil is generally stronger than gummies.
The Science Behind CBD
We answered all of the most basic questions above in the FAQ section, but this section is for those of you who want a deeper dive on exactly what CBD does once its consumed and how it works within your body to produce benefits. Let’s dive in…
The Endocannabinoid System
As I briefly mentioned before, it was recently discovered that the body already contains what’s called the Endocannabinoid System. The discovery of this system is a large part of what ignited all of the excitement and hype surrounding CBD…this was years ago, and now we have a ton of research showing a ton of potential with regard to CBD benefits.
The Endocannabinoid System plays a role in regulating energy levels, mood, pain, and how you experience and process stress. Therefore, it’s extremely important that your endocannabinoid system is functioning properly if you want to avoid excessive stress and/or high anxiety levels.
Research has shown that CBD supplementation can play a tremendous role in helping modulate the Endocannabinoid System and make sure everything is functioning efficiently. This study illustrates how important it is to have a healthy Endocannabinoid System.
CB1 & CB2 Receptors
Yes, your body already has cannabinoid receptors built into it, and their ability to function properly can potentially be enhanced by supplementing with cannabinoids such as CBD (AKA cannabidiol). Allow me to explain…
CB1 receptors are mostly found in the brain and play a pivotal role in emotion, pain, mood, and complex thought. CB2 receptors are mainly found in your immune system and are believed to play a major role in processes related to pain and inflammation.
Many researchers believe that the main reason CBD has been effective for so many people is the effect it may have on the CB1 and CB2 receptors. After all, these receptors deal almost exclusively with processes that involve stress, anxiety, pain, and mood…and the main benefits people report from using CBD are anxiety relief and pain relief. Does that sound like a coincidence to you?
The Benefits of CBD Oil
Continuing off my last point, let’s talk about the most commonly reported benefits of CBD oil supplementation. The three most common reasons people report in terms of both why they choose to use CBD oil and the type of benefits they experience from CBD oil are related to anxiety, pain, and sleep. Let’s break down each one…
CBD For Anxiety Relief & Sleep
The National Center For Biotechnology Information is perhaps the single most reputable source when it comes to clinical studies and determining whether or not an ingredient or nutrient truly works. They have conducted several clinical studies on CBD as it relates to anxiety and gotten some very encouraging results…
According to this study conducted by the NCBI, regular use of CBD oil resulted in a steady decrease in anxiety levels and improvements in both the quality AND quantity of the users’ sleep. I recommend reading the whole study…it’s very promising.
There are several other studies available on their website that show CBD being used on study participants for different reasons related to anxiety and/or sleep, and the body of research as a whole makes it pretty hard to disagree with the idea that CBD has tremendous potential in this regard.
CBD For Pain Relief
Once again, the NCBI has provided a tremendous amount of clinical data and support with regard to benefits that CBD may be able to provide regarding pain relief. There is an ever-growing body of research supporting the potential of this natural cannabinoid as a solution for chronic pain.
This study examines how CBD and other cannabinoids can potentially work within the body to help produce pain relief benefits. I’d strongly encourage my readers to have a look at this study, especially if it’s pain relief you’re searching for…
Reading what I have to say on the subject may be helpful, but I’m just a Nutrition & Wellness Consultant, not a scientist. The NCBI has some of the smartest doctors, scientists, etc. all studying CBD and producing amazing data and results…it’s worth checking out.
The Final Verdict on CBD Oil
As you can probably tell by now, I’m a HUGE fan of CBD oil, and it’s one of a select few supplements that I religiously use every single day. More specifically, I use Transcend Labs CBD oil literally every day because it has been so much more effective than any other CBD oil I have tried, and that doesn’t surprise me whatsoever based on the label…
It simply does not get any better in terms of quality, potency, company reputation, and value. Taking all of those considerations into account, Transcend is the clear choice for me. Let’s take one more quick look at my #1 pick for the best CBD oil of 2020…
