Texas Superfood Review: Is This Greens Supplement Legit?

by Joe Costello, CNC | Green Drinks & Superfood Drinks

Texas Superfood supplement bottle and capsulesTexas Superfood is a product that falls under the category of greens powder supplements, but it’s different from the others in one key way that makes it attractive to many people. In this Texas Superfood review, we will explain what they key difference is and talk about whether it’s really worth it or not.

People like the idea of Texas Superfood because it comes in capsules, which means you don’t have to consume a glass of green drink like you typically would with most other green powder supplements. It’s convenient, but is it as effective?

The truth is, consuming superfoods via capsules like this is far less effective, and this method of consumption inherently makes Texas Superfood far less potent than competing green powder supplements. For that reason, we do NOT recommend Texas Superfood.

Texas Superfood review by a NASM-Certified Nutrition Coach: Is Texas Superfood any good?

Texas Superfood contains a lot of high quality ingredients, so the formula looks impressive at first. Plus, the capsules are very convenient. However, it simply isn’t possible to get as many fruits and vegetables via capsules as you can get via a traditional green drink supplement, which typically utilizes a large scooper instead of capsules in order to be able to fit a significantly larger amount of powdered fruit and vegetables.

Ironically, the most attractive aspect of this product is what makes it inferior…the capsules themselves. The capsules limit potency and essentially put a ceiling on the amount of fruits and vegetables you are able to consume, which is a major problem. Additionally, the method of using capsules as opposed to pure powder limits your body’s ability to absorb the nutrients. The capsules interfere with your ability to digest and absorb the nutrients.

In short, with Texas Superfood, you are getting a significantly less potent and smaller serving size of superfoods, fruits and vegetables that standard powder form superfood supplements provide. To make matters worse, the serving size of these fruits and vegetables that you are getting is NOT being properly digested and absorbed by your body due to the interference of the capsules.

As a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC), I have to say this is one of the worst superfood supplements I have ever evaluated. There is nothing I like about it other than the fact that it is manufactured in the United States. I do NOT recommend this supplement and would strongly urge you to have a look at our list of the top 10 best Texas Superfood alternatives. I personally take the TOTAL LIVING DRINK every morning and strongly recommend it. It has produced tremendous benefits for me with regard to immune health, gut health, digestive health, brain health, and more.

Just to further prove my point, here is what a Texas Superfood dosage looks like next to a dosage of the Total Living Drink:

My Personal Experience & Results Taking Texas Superfood

As a Nutrition Coach, I feel it is my job to not only evaluate the nutrition facts of any given dietary supplement, but also to test it for myself. Therefore, I bought a 30 day supply of Texas Superfood in order to give my clients and readers a deeper look into whether or not this supplement can actually produce health benefits. Here’s what happened when I was taking Texas Superfood…

My biggest complaint in my experience taking Texas Superfood is that I just didn’t feel anything. I didn’t get an energy boost, help with digestive health, or any of the other health benefits that are usually immediately noticeable with superfood powder supplements. I took nearly the entire 30 day supply, and yet, I never experienced any health benefits.

I can at least say this about the Texas Superfood powder – It did not give me any side effects. If I had to guess why I didn’t experience side effects, I’d say its most likely due to the lack of potency overall. Here’s something a lot of people don’t know about superfood powders or dietary supplements in general for that matter…if it’s not strong enough to produce benefits, it’s most likely not strong enough to produce side effects either. Is that a good thing? No, because you’re still wasting your money…but I’m not here to tell you how to spend your money.

Bottom Line: Texas Superfood did not produce any noticeable heath benefits for me whatsoever. As a result of my negative personal experience taking the supplement and my analysis of the nutrition facts, I do NOT recommend Texas Superfood to any of my clients or readers. It was simply a waste of money for me.

What does Texas Superfood do?

What does Texas Superfood do for you? Texas Superfood is a dietary supplement designed to help replace your need to eat fruits and veggies on a daily basis. It contains 55 various fruit and vegetable powders. The Texas Superfood original formula is designed to help improve digestive health, immune system function, boost energy levels, and replace the need for veggies in your diet. HOWEVER, just because it is designed to do so, does not mean it actually works.

In fact, if you were to personally ask me the question “what does Texas Superfood do for you?” I would probably answer with “nothing.” That may sound like a bit of a dramatic answer, but I have been doing this for a long time, and I know a bad supplement when I see one. The benefits listed above CAN be produced by the top tier superfood supplements, but this particular product is not capable of producing such benefits in my opinion.

In this case, there are far too many issues with regard to potency, delivery method, digestive ability, and nutrient absorption. Superfood powders are my favorite type of health supplements and can undoubtedly produce tremendous health benefits for you…just not this one.

Texas Superfood ingredients and supplement facts label

Vegetables

There are 25 total vegetables in this formula, which Texas Superfood refers to as “Superfood Greens.” It contains common nutrients like broccoli, spinach, and other well known vegetables, but it also contains certain superfoods that are difficult to find elsewhere.

Overall, the vegetable portion of this formula is pretty impressive, but there’s one major issue – you simply can’t fit that much vegetable powder into a few capsules. Therefore, this component lacks potency.

Fruits

There are 30 total fruits in the formula, which Texas Superfood refers to as “Superfood Reds.” The reds include common fruits like Blueberry and Apple, but it also contains some rare reds such as passion flower and monk fruit.

Again, this is a great blend of nutrients, but it lacks potency because you can only squeeze so much powder into capsules. This is why green drinks are superior.

Digestive Enzymes

Texas Superfood contains a wide range of digestive enzymes including protease, lipase, amylase, bromelain, and more. Digestive enzymes are very important because they help your body properly digest and absorb the superfoods and other nutrients you are taking in.

Probiotics

The probiotics blend is very small, but at least it’s present. Probiotics are excellent for improving your gut health. They help flush out unhealthy bacteria and replace it with clean, healthy bacteria. If you suffer from any form of irritable bowl diseases, probiotics can be very helpful in some cases.

Algae, Grasses, & Others

Algae and grasses are some of the most beneficial superfoods in the world, and they’re also typically pretty hard to find. The key names are Spirulina and Chlorella, both of which Texas Superfood contains. The dosage sizes are not disclosed, but it’s good to know that it at least contains these ingredients to some extent. Take a look at the product label above to see for yourself what it looks like.

Texas Superfood dosage: How much Texas Superfood should you take & when?

As per the instructions on the Texas Superfood original bottle, users are supposed to take 6 capsules daily. They also say that these capsules should be spaced out throughout the day and are best consumed with food. So much for convenience…at this point, having one glass of green drink of every morning sounds more convenient. If you can’t tell yet, I do not like this supplement.

Texas Superfood pros and cons

Here are the benefits and side effects of the Texas Superfood original formula.

Texas Superfood Benefits

Texas superfood greens drinkTexas Superfood is comparatively a very weak greens supplement, but it still contains 50+ very healthy nutrients that should produce some noticeable benefits over time. Some of the primary product claims (key word = “claims”) are improved energy levels, immune system function, digestive health, gut health, better bowel movements, reduced brain fog, lower blood pressure, and enhanced gastrointestinal function.

However, please note that you are not likely to experience these benefits in my opinion. You see, there ingredients it contains are definitely known for producing such benefits, but as I said before, the dosages are way too small for the user to realistically expect any significant or noticeable benefits in my opinion.

In order to really experience the truly amazing health benefits that superfoods have to offer, you need to get yourself a top notch powdered supplement that offers large dosages, high potency, and a reliable delivery method. Capsules are not a reliable delivery method, which is why I tend to recommend powders.

Yes, green powders don’t taste great, but you can easily fix this problem by mixing it in with juice or a smoothie (that’s what I do). I have actually personally experienced some benefits with regard to weight loss by using the green powder I drink every morning (the Total Living Drink). Obviously, weight loss is never a guaranteed benefit by any means, but here is why I think the one I take is helping me lose weight…

It contains 11 grams of vegan protein powder, and the fiber content is very high. So, the combination of high protein and high fiber allows me to feel full after I consume it. Therefore, it can serve as an effective meal replacement…it is what I drink for breakfast every day as opposed to a meal, which reduces my daily calorie intake.

Texas Superfood Side Effects

My Texas superfood reviewThe Texas Superfood original formula is 100% non gmo superfoods, fruits and vegetables, grasses, and algae. There is nothing in the formula that would lead me to believe side effects are likely. If anything, you might have some mild stomach cramps and irregular bowel movements in the beginning. Other than that, I wouldn’t expect side effects to occur. After all, you’re just consuming non gmo fruits and veggies at the end of the day…I’d be surprised by any significant side effect.

One thing you always want to look for when you are considering taking a dietary supplement is whether or not it is manufactured in the United States. This is because if it is not, you can’t really trust the supplement facts label, which means there could be some unexpected side effects. However, this supplement is made in the United States, so no need for concern in that regard.

Other Texas Superfood Cons

The biggest con with Texas Superfood is actually what most people are seeing as the main pro: the capsules. I can’t stress enough how important this is. You’re not getting anywhere near as many superfoods, fruits and vegetables as you would get with a legitimate green powder supplement.

One scoop of a standard high quality greens powder is going to contain at least twice the amount of superfoods, fruits and vegetables than could fit in Texas Superfood’s 6-capsule serving size. It simply isn’t possible to fit enough superfoods into a few tiny capsules, and therefore, Texas Superfood severely lacks potency.

To illustrate my point, I took the below photo. This photo is a side by side comparison of what one serving of Texas Superfood looks like versus one serving of our top ranked greens supplement, which is Total Living Drink Greens (that’s the green powder that I personally take every morning).

One serving of Texas Superfood is on the left, and a serving of the Total Living Drink Greens is on the right. Tell me which one of these looks like it has more nutrients to you…and don’t forget the fact that the capsules interfere with nutrient digestion and absorption, which means you are probably getting even less nutrients than you see in the below photo.

The bottom line is that superfoods in powder form are FAR superior and more effective than they are in capsule form. Powder form is better than capsule form in every way…more efficient delivery, easier digestion, and much better nutrient absorption.

Texas Superfood complaints & praise (info from real Texas Superfood customer reviews)

At the time of writing, there are just over 1,000 customer reviews of Texas Superfood posted on Amazon. We like to turn to Amazon for customer reviews because they strictly allow verified buyers to post reviews. Therefore, you can be confident these reviews are real.

Across a total of about 1,000 Texas Superfood reviews, it earned an average rating of 4.2 stars out of 5, which is pretty solid. We generally say that anything above an average of 4 stars is solid, assuming the sample size is significant enough. It actually was rated 5 stars by a decent amount of users, which in my opinion is probably due to the placebo effect since there is simply no way this product genuinely deserves 5 stars.

This data is encouraging, but it’s also worth noting that roughly 25% of customers posted negative reviews of Texas Superfood, rating the product between 1-3 stars. There are a lot of very disheartening testimonials from customers who rated it 1 star, citing complaints of the product simply not working, which is no surprise to me whatsoever.

Is Texas Superfood good or bad? Our conclusion

The bottom line is Texas Superfood is not a supplement that we feel comfortable recommending to our readers. The capsules may seem like an attractive concept, but it makes this product inherently less potent than standard greens powders. It also makes the product significantly harder for your body to digest and absorb. In other words, you are not getting a lot of nutrients with this product to begin with, and many of the nutrients you are getting are likely going to waste due to the capsules.

That doesn’t mean you should buy just any green powder over Texas Superfood…you still should be very selective as there are plenty of bad superfood supplements out there. Check out our top 10 to see some of the best the market has to offer. Like I said, I personally take Total Living Drink Greens, which has been truly amazing for my digestive health, immune health, gut health, energy levels, and even weight loss.

Texas Superfood FAQs

Who sells Texas Superfood?

Texas Superfood is sold by multiple convenient stores including Walmart. It’s also available on Amazon. I would recommend avoiding visiting the company website because there is a lot of misleading info there. We have provided a link to the Texas Superfood product page on Amazon at the top of this review. With that said, in case you couldn’t tell already, we strongly recommend avoiding this supplement. We don’t believe it is effective or worth the money.

Which is better Balance of Nature or Texas Superfood?

Texas Superfood has the edge over Balance of Nature, but if we’re being realistic, both of these products are pretty bad. We don’t recommend either one as they both severely lack potency and are very weak compared to the top shelf superfood supplements. I actually wrote an article comparing these two products in depth, which you can read here: Balance of Nature Vs Texas Superfood.

Does Texas Superfood have a money back guarantee?

Yes, they do offer a money back guarantee. If you already bought it and are just now reading this review, you should still be able to return it depending on the date you purchased it. This supplement is terrible, but hey, at least you can still get your money back after you realize it doesn’t work!

Are there any Texas Superfood coupon codes or promo discount vouchers?

We were not able to find any currently active Texas Superfood coupon codes. If we find a promo code down the road, we will add it into this section of the review. With that being said, we still would not recommend Texas Superfood even if we had a discount code for you. No promo code is going to fix the potency issue!
