Athletic Greens vs Organifi Compared: Which Is Best?

by Joe Costello, CNC | Green Drinks & Superfood Drinks

In this article, we’ll compare two of the most popular greens supplements on the market: Athletic Greens vs Organifi Green Juice. We’re going to take an in depth look at the ingredients and supplement fact panels in order to determine which is better.

Athletic Greens has always been the more popular product, but does that actually mean it’s the better supplement? We’ll answer that question and more in this comprehensive comparison of both supplements. Let’s get into it!

What is the difference between Athletic Greens and Organifi?

The difference between Organifi and Athletic Greens is that one of them is significantly more potent than the other in terms of the amount of superfoods it contains. Athletic Greens provides about 10,000 milligrams worth of superfoods, while Organifi only provides 7,000 milligrams of superfoods.

So, the primary difference is that Athletic Greens is a lot more potent in the superfoods per serving (SFPS) department. However, there’s a lot more to it than that, and we’re going to break down every aspect in the following sections.

It’s worth noting at this point that we do not recommend either of these products as the top ranked green drink. If you want to learn about the most powerful and nutritious options on the market, click here: BEST SUPERFOOD POWDERS.

Athletic Greens

1. Organifi Green Juice vs Athletic Greens pricing

As you can see above, Athletic Greens is almost twice as expensive as Organifi at $99 per bag. However, as is the case with most supplements, you get what you pay for. There is a reason Athletic Greens is significantly more expensive.

The fact that Athletic Greens contains more superfoods, probiotics, and digestive enzymes justifies the fact that the price is higher. However, we still think it’s overpriced at $99. There really is not good value with either one of these supplements in our opinion.

2. Organifi or Athletic Greens for flavor?

Organifi has better flavor than Athletic Greens because they simply did a better job at masking the taste of the greens with their added flavors. In the additional ingredients section on Organifi, you can see that they added flavors such as Orange, Mint, etc. to the formula to make it taste better.

Well, it turns out these added flavors really do help mask the taste. Obviously, which one tastes better is a matter of opinion, but we think Organifi has the edge here thanks to this dynamic flavor profile.

3. Probiotics

There’s not much to compare when it comes to probiotics. Athletic Greens provides a dosage of 7.2 billion CFU probiotics per serving, which as actually a very average dosage. In fact, compared to some of its peers, this is a pretty below average dosage.

With that said, Athletic Greens wins by default because Organifi does not contain any probiotics at all, which is a problem. If probiotics are important to you, then the winner here is pretty obvious.

4. Superfoods per serving (SFPS)

Superfoods per serving is the most important aspect to evaluate when it comes to superfood powders for obvious reasons. You want to get the most bang for your buck and the most superfoods per serving, which is where Athletic Greens has the upper hand.

Athletic Greens contains about 10,000 milligrams of superfoods per serving, whereas Organifi Green Juice only contains about 7,000 milligrams per serving. You get significantly more superfoods with Athletic Greens in this case.

5. Digestive enzymes

Here we have another no-brainer. Organifi Green Juice does not contain any digestive enzymes in the formula, which is a shame. On the other hand, Athletic Greens provides about 154 milligrams worth of digestive enzymes, making it the clear winner in this department.

6. Protein

Both supplements are severely lacking in the protein department, with Athletic Greens only providing 2 grams per serving and Organifi Green Juice only providing one gram per serving. Ideally, you’d want to see about 10 grams of protein in the formula in order for your body to get any benefits from it.

Organifi vs Athletic Greens ingredients comparison

We’ve already directly compared the key aspects of both formulas, but in this section, we’re going to take a deeper dive into the superfood profiles themselves. What exactly do these supplements contain, what do they have in common, and which has better ingredients? Let’s take a look…

Common ingredients

Spirulina

Spirulina has very powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it an excellent addition to any superfood formula. It can help improve digestion, lower cholesterol, and even improve immunity thanks to its high concentration of vitamins E, C, and B6.

Unfortunately, neither Athletic Greens or Organifi disclose the amount of spirulina they contain, so we can’t compare dosages. Ideally, the formulas would be more transparent so that we could see which supplement provides more Spirulina, but they aren’t. All we know is that they both contain it…the dosage sizes are not disclosed.

Chlorella

Chlorella is a powerful algae that contains a long list of beneficial nutrients such as antioxidants, Vitamin C, Omega-3s, and more. This nutrient rich algae is often regarded as the most powerful and potent superfood on the market, producing benefits related to digestion, immunity, and cholesterol.

It’s good to know that both supplements contain this crucial ingredient, but again, they do not disclose the dosage amount. Therefore, we can’t know whether Athletic Greens or Organifi contains more chlorella.

Wheat grass

It seems like every day more studies come out showing the benefits of wheat grass, which include improving digestion, metabolism, energy levels, immunity, and more. Some studies suggest that wheat grass may even positively impact cholesterol levels in certain individuals.

Can you guess what the problem is? Both supplements contain this ingredient, but neither one tells us how much it contains. Therefore, we don’t know who has the advantage…we just know they both contain wheat grass to some extent.

Ingredients exclusive to Athletic Greens

Ginger

Ginger has long been used to help boost immunity and improve gastrointestinal function. It may not sound as sexy as some of the other more rare superfoods, but ginger is just as powerful and can certainly produce a lot of benefits for the user.

Athletic Greens is one of the only superfood supplements that contains ginger. There is only one other product we’re aware of that contains it, which is our top ranked green drink. Ginger is a great addition to any superfood formula.

Bilberry fruit

Bilberry is one of the most underrated superfoods on the market and is often left out of superfood formulas for whatever reason. The most commonly reported benefit of bilberry fruit is the effect it can have in inflammation. It has very powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

Athletic Greens contains it at an undisclosed dosage, so we don’t know if it’s enough to make a difference. However, we do know that Organifi doesn’t contain it at all…so, the edge goes to Athletic Greens here.

Ingredients exclusive to Organifi

Moringa

Moringa is a superfood that not many people have heard of but more people should learn about. It’s rich in many beneficial nutrients and is most commonly praised for its ability to reduce inflammation and positively effect blood sugar levels.

Props to Organifi for including this rare superfood in their formula. Again, we don’t know the dosage size, so we’re not sure how much of an impact it will have. However, we do know that Athletic Greens doesn’t contain it at all…so, the edge goes to Organifi here.

Prebiotics

Organifi lists organic prebiotic powder as one of its additional ingredients. The prebiotic powder is derived from Tapioca starch, which is a solid source of prebiotics and an ingredient that Athletic Greens does not contain.

To be honest, Athletic Greens simply has way more ingredients than Oganifi does, so it’s pretty hard to find any ingredients exclusive to Organifi. However, Moringa and Prebiotics are a couple of significant ones.

Which is better, Athletic Greens or Organifi? Our Conclusion

At the end of the day, we have to give the win to Athletic Greens simply because it contains more superfoods per serving. It also has the added bonus of probiotics and digestive enzymes, neither of which Organifi Green Juice contains.

However, Organifi has better value and is less expensive, so it depends what is more important to you. The good news is there is a happy medium…supplements do exist that are as potent as Athletic Greens but significantly cheaper, which is why Athletic Greens is not our top recommended supplement.
