Athletic Greens vs Green Vibrance Comparison: Which Is Best?

by Joe Costello, CNC | Green Drinks & Superfood Drinks

In this comprehensive comparison article, we’re going to directly compare Athletic Greens Vs Green Vibrance to see which greens powder is better. We will take an in-depth look at both of these greens powder supplements including the ingredients, supplement facts panels, price, value, and more. Let’s dive in!

What is the difference between Athletic Greens and Green Vibrance?

The difference between Athletic Greens and Green Vibrance by Vibrant Health is actually fairly negligible aside from the dosage amounts of probiotics and digestive enzymes. Neither of these greens powder supplements are necessarily top shelf, but they’re both relatively solid. The lack of potency in comparison to peers is the most glaring issue with regard to both of them.

Each greens powder contains roughly the same amount of superfoods per serving at right around 10,000 milligrams. The difference is primarily that Athletic Greens is the greens powder that provides significantly more digestive enzymes, while Green Vibrance is the one that provides significantly more probiotics.

These greens powder supplements are average at best, and our top ranked greens supplement has a whopping 50% more superfoods per serving than either one of these products. To take a look at how all of them stack up against each other and learn more, click here: BEST GREEN DRINK POWDERS.

Green Vibrance

1. Athletic Greens vs Green Vibrance pricing

The pricing difference here is actually pretty significant despite these greens powders having very similar supplement fact panels. A 30-day supply of Athletic Greens costs $99 while a 30-day supply of Green Vibrance costs $75.99. So, you pay a much higher price for the former greens powder, but you really aren’t getting much more out of it than you are with the ladder greens powder.

As you can see, Athletic Greens is pretty overpriced. While Vibrant Health Green Vibrance is cheaper, we still consider it to be overpriced. Why? Because our top ranked best greens powder is 50% more potent while only being $5 more expensive…so it’s hard to feel like either of the prices in this case are fair.

2. Flavor

Neither of these greens powders have great flavor, but Athletic Greens does have a bit more flavor than Green Vibrance in my personal opinion. Although, it’s very close, so we made it a tie in terms of how we scored it on the chart. It’s worth noting that greens powders in general are not going to taste very good, so be sure to take advantage of solutions like mixing it in with juice as opposed to water, or perhaps mixing your greens powder in with a smoothie.

Mixing your greens powder with juice instead of water can help mask the taste of the greens a little better. My personal preference is orange juice since it has the boldest flavor. It does a pretty solid job at masking the taste. However, the best tasting way to consume greens powders is by combining the super greens with a smoothie in the morning. My personal recipe is as follows: Almond milk, bananas, organic peanut butter, and then just add in the super greens, and you can’t taste them at all!

3. Probiotics

This is where Green Vibrance really has the upper hand, containing about 3 times the amount of probiotics per serving as Athletic Greens contains at 25 billion CFU vs 7.2 billion CFU, respectively. Probiotics are very important, so this is significant. So, if probiotics are important to you, Vibrant Health Green Vibrance is your winner. Although, I’d still like to note that our top ranked greens supplement contains even more probiotics than this one…t’s worth taking a look at it before making a decision.

Probiotics are way more important than you think because they are essentially what shapes your gut microbiome. When it comes to your gut health, probiotics are the most important thing to consider. Your current gut microbiome is probably less than ideal due to your diet, which most likely doesn’t contain enough leafy greens, fruits and vegetables, and other nutrients that tend to contain high levels of probiotics.

If you can improve your gut health, you can experience a lot of amazing health benefits. Your gut effects everything in your body, including your energy levels, brain health, weight loss ability, immune system, and more. So if you can improve your gut health (and you can using probiotics), you can truly change your life.

4. Superfoods Per Serving (SFPS)

Athletic Greens provides roughly 10,000 milligrams of superfoods per serving, whereas Green Vibrance contains about 9,600 milligrams of superfood per serving. Therefore, Athletic Greens has a slight advantage here, but nothing to write home about. Greens powders in general should contain WAY more super greens per serving than they do, but hey supplement companies are cheap…a bunch of them skimp out on the dosages to save money.

Not to keep harping on this point, but there’s a very good reason we gave our #1 recommended best greens powder the top ranking spot…it contains 15,000 milligrams of superfoods per serving, making it significantly more potent than either of these supplements (50% more potent to be exact).

After all, it’s hard not harp on this point because what are you buying greens powders for? Superfoods, super greens, fruits and vegetables, etc…if the supplement doesn’t contain enough of these nutrients, what’s the point? The super greens are what produce the most significant benefits with regard to your immune system,

5. Digestive Enzymes

In the clash of these two greens powders, this is where Athletic Greens really has Green Vibrance beat. Green Vibrance contains 10 milligrams of digestive enzymes per serving, whereas Athletic Greens contains about 15 times that amount at 154 milligrams per serving. That is a pretty significant difference, and digestive enzymes are key because they help ensure that your body is able to digest and absorb the super greens you are consuming.

So, if digestive enzymes are important to you (and they should be), it’s clear who has the advantage in that regard. These greens powders are very similar in a lot of areas, so it’s tough to make a call, but this is an area where the difference is obvious. It’s really crucial that your body is able to perform optimal digestion and nutrient absorption, so you really don’t want to overlook the importance of digestive enzymes.

6. Protein

Neither of these greens powders contain anywhere near enough protein to make a real difference. Both Athletic Greens and Green Vibrance provide 2 grams of protein per serving, which is super weak and a HUGE problem. Protein is very important, especially if you’re trying to use green drinks for weight loss and/or to function as meal replacement supplements. Neither of these supplements can help you in that regard in our opinion.

Here’s the problem with BOTH of these greens powders when it comes to their low protein content: low protein content means that they won’t make you feel very full when you consume them. Protein is what makes your stomach feel full, helps sooth you’d digestive tract, and provides your muscles with the phytonutrients they need to function properly and thrive.

If your intention is to use greens powders for meal replacement purposes, you better avoid these two options since they have basically no protein. To put it into perspective, our top ranked best greens powder provides 11 grams of protein per serving (100% plant based vegan pea protein by the way), which means it has over TWICE the amount of protein content as either of the two greens powders in question.

Athletic Greens vs Green vibrance ingredients comparison

In this section, we’re going to directly compare the formulas to find out which ingredients they have in common and in what areas one supplement may have an advantage over the other. Let’s take a look at both of these formulas and see how the ingredients compare…

Common Ingredients

Spirulina

Both of these supplements contain a pretty significant amount of Spirulina, which is widely believed to be one of the most powerful super greens on the market. It contains high amounts of antioxidants, polyphenols, and other nutrients that can produce a wide array of health benefits for your immune system, digestive health, gut health, blood pressure, brain health, and more.

Athletic Greens does not disclose the exact dosage, but they do list Spirulina as the most prominent ingredient in their Superfood Complex blend, so we can assume the dosage is pretty significant. Green Vibrance contains 600 milligrams per serving, which is a very below average dosage.

Low dosages are a MAJOR problem with both of these supplements, and remember, super greens like Spirulina do not produce health benefits unless they are adequately dosed. As the most important superfood in the formula, this one should have the highest dosage. To put it into perspective again, our top ranked best greens powder contains 2,000 MG per serving.

Wheat Grass

If you’ve ever wondered why Wheat Grass “shots” have become so widely available at smoothie shops and coffee shops, it’s because of the long list of health benefits this nutrient is believed to produce including improved immunity, digestion, blood pressure, cholesterol, and energy levels. Of all the super greens on the market, this is easily one of the top five most powerful in terms of health benefits.

Green Vibrance provides 700 milligrams of Wheat Grass per serving, which is a decent dosage size. It is listed as the fifth most prominent ingredient in the Athletic Greens superfood complex blend, so we don’t know the exact dosage, but it’s likely insignificant. We can’t know the serving size for sure, which is why it’s really annoying when supplement companies hide the super greens dosages using something like a proprietary superfood blend.

This is an absolute cornerstone ingredient when it comes to greens powders, along with several other cereal grasses and algae. In other words, when it comes to the super greens blend, this is a MUST-HAVE. If you are looking at a greens product formula, and you don’t see it on the ingredients list, you should probably avoid that supplement. That’s how important we think Wheat Grass juice powder is.

Broccoli Powder

Broccoli needs to introduction. Everyone knows it’s important to incorporate this detoxifying, nutrient-dense vegetable into their diet, and yet almost nobody gets enough of it. Green Vibrance contains 150 milligrams per serving, and Athletic Greens contains Broccoli powder as well, although the dosage size is not disclosed.

Again, the main goal of superfood supplements is to increase your vegetable intake, so you want ingredients like this one to be sufficiently dosed. It’s really frustrating when the ingredients label shows low dosages and/or dosages that are left undisclosed…I’d like to see more transparency out of the supplement industry in general.

Ingredients exclusive to Athletic Greens

Artichoke leaf extract

Artichoke is a superfood that not many people incorporate into their diet on a regular basis, despite the fact that is is very nutrient dense and can provide a lot of benefits. Athletic Greens doesn’t disclose exactly how much of this ingredient it contains, but we do know it’s a part of the formula.

Since Athletic Greens uses proprietary blends, individual dosages are not disclosed. Therefore, we know what ingredients it contains, but it’s hard for us to evaluate whether or not it contains enough of a particular ingredient.

Rhodiola rosea

Rhodiola rosea is an ingredient that is most well known for it’s ability to improve cognition and help relieve stress. Rhodiola is not your typical superfood and is more widely considered to be a nootropic ingredient, but we think it’s a cool addition to the Athletic Greens formula.

With that said, we again have no way to tell how much of the ingredient the formula contains due to the use of proprietary blends.

Chlorella

Chlorella is second only to Spirulina when it comes to the most powerful superfoods on the market. Therefore, it’s sad and significantly disappointing that Green Vibrance does not contain any of it. All superfood supplements should contain Chlorella, and the serving size should be significant. It’s far too important of a nutrient to ignore.

Chlorella is believed to help improve blood pressure, lower cholesterol, boost your immune system, enhance cognitive function, and improve digestion. We consider it to be an absolute necessity in every greens supplement formula. We would never recommend a superfood powder that does not contain a sufficient dosage of this ingredient, which is part of why we do not recommend either one of these green powder supplements.

Ingredients exclusive to Green Vibrance

Oat grass

Most superfood powders contain barley grass and wheat grass, but Green Vibrance is one of the only ones that includes Oat grass (the only other one is our top ranked green powder). Oat grass is perhaps the most overlooked of all the cereal grasses, as it is jam packed with antioxidants and other detoxifying nutrients.

This ingredient can help dramatically improve digestion, immune system function, and overall gastrointestinal function, which makes it a great addition to this Green Vibrance formula. There are 700 milligrams in every serving, which is again a rather low dosage…low dosages of key greens ingredients is a problem that we consistently see with this formula.

Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most powerful plant extracts and has been used for centuries for its ability to cure many different ailments. With that said, it’s most well known for the effect it has on your immune system and digestive system. Turmeric contains a high concentration of Circumin, which can really help improve digestion and immunity.

Each serving of Green Vibrance has 150 milligrams of Turmeric, which is not a very large dosage, but at least it contains the ingredient. This is another ingredient that is often overlooked by superfood supplement manufacturers.

Which is better, Athletic Greens or Green Vibrance? Our Conclusion

As you can see by this point in the article, this is a very tough question to answer. These two supplements are very similar. Athletic Greens has the advantage with regard to digestive enzymes, but Green Vibrance has the advantage with regard to probiotics. The truly serious problem is that neither one contains enough superfoods.

I’d personally choose Green Vibrance over Athletic Greens just because the formula is more transparent. I can see all of the individual dosages for the ingredients, which is a big deal to me. Plus, it’s a bit less expensive, which is a plus. Neither one should be a concern in terms of side effects, so no worries there.

It really just comes down to what is most important to you personally in terms of the formula itself as well as price. However, we actually do NOT recommend either of these greens supplements as our top option since they both severely lack potency and are missing several key ingredients.
